Transport Planet (coming soon)

Transport Planet is a channel from Red Planet Travel that allows anyone add Transit Data (e.g. routes, timetables and fares) for any Transport Agency (e.g. Bus, Train, Ferry companies) in the world to any website that requires this information and processes it.

In addition to the search engine on Red Planet Travel (powered by Rome2rio) the data is read by Rome2Rio itself (and any of it's affiliates including Lufthansa, ClearTrip and many more), Google Maps, Bing Maps and many others. 

How it works

Data is entered into the Transport Planet website on Red Planet Travel. It is then compiled into a GTFS file.  This is then made available to any service that requests this data.  Red Planet Travel (powered by Rome2rio) is one of many sites on the internet that will receive the data.

If required, you can also setup a connection to the gtfs-exchange and publish your GTFS file details there.  This is a central index of GTFS files - this makes it known to thousands of websites, developers and enthusiasts the world over.

For Transport Agencies

Transport Agencies can use Transport Planet to create a GTFS file to publicise your Routes, Timetables and Fares.  You can leverage the power of the community and let Transport Enthusiasts help create and maintain these files too, whilst retaining control of the data as you wish.

For Transport Enthusiasts

Red Planetters (Red Planet Travel Members) can create GTFS files for any Transport Agencies they want! (that is if the GTFS file is not already being created).  

If you are interested in Transport and want to support public transport, keeping the data fresh and up to date sign up for a Red Planet Travel account and select to join the Transport Planet under the "Roles" section in the account area.
